Convert a shoe size between European, UK, US, Japanese and Mondopoint sizes, or start from your foot length. Every result shows the foot length the size is made for, so you can check it against any brand's chart.
UK 7 is made for a foot of about 25.4 cm (10 in)
- EU40
- UK7
- US men8
- US women9
- JP / KR (cm)25.5
- Mondopoint255
A shoe's inside is usually 1.3 to 2.5 cm longer than the foot it fits (ISO/TS 19407), so for this foot expect about 26.7–27.9 cm inside.
Many brands label the same foot half to one EU size higher than the standard (UK 7 sold as EU 41), and some US women's charts add 2½ to the UK size instead of 2. Compare the foot length in cm on the brand's own chart when you can.

How to use it
From a size: choose adults or children, the system on the shoe or the shop's chart, and the size. The tape strips show the other systems and the foot length that size is made for. From your foot: switch to My foot length and enter the measurement in centimetres or inches; add the width if you want the full Mondopoint designation.
Measuring your foot
- Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall, weight on both feet, in the socks you will wear.
- Mark the tip of the longest toe (not always the big toe) and measure from the wall to the mark.
- Do both feet, late in the day when feet are largest, and use the longer one.
What the systems mean
EU counts Paris points of ⅔ cm along the shoe's last. UK and US count barleycorns of ⅓ inch; US men's sizes are one above UK, US women's two above. JP (Japan, Korea) is the foot length in centimetres and Mondopoint the foot length in millimetres, optionally with the width (265/100).
Worked example: a 25.4 cm (10 in) foot is a UK 7, US men's 8, US women's 9, EU 40 and Japanese 25.5.

Questions
Why is my EU size different from brand to brand?
The EU number measures the shoe's last, not your foot, and each maker decides how much longer than the foot its last should be. The standard allows about two sizes; many brands add more, so a foot that is EU 40 by the ISO formula is often sold as EU 41. The foot length in centimetres on a brand's chart is the safest comparison.
What is the difference between US men's and women's sizes?
US women's sizes run higher for the same foot: one and a half sizes on most charts (men's 8 = women's 9½), or one size on the scale ISO/TS 19407 uses (men's 8 = women's 9). Unisex trainers are usually labelled in men's sizes, so women subtract 1 to 1½.
What does Mondopoint mean, for example 265/100?
Mondopoint (ISO 9407) labels shoes with the foot length and, optionally, the foot width they fit, both in millimetres: 265/100 is for a 265 mm long, 100 mm wide foot. It is standard for ski boots and skates and is the basis of Japanese, Chinese and Korean shoe sizes.
What do C and Y mean in US children's sizes?
C sizes (also called toddler and little kids) run from 0 to 13½. After that come youth or big kids' sizes, marked Y, which use the same numbers as US men's sizes, so a 5Y fits like a men's 5, about a women's 6½.
How much room should a shoe have?
The inside of a shoe is longer than the foot. ISO/TS 19407 gives typical inside lengths 13 to 25 mm longer than the foot for adults, and about 8 % plus 6 mm longer for children, which leaves room to grow. Try shoes on late in the day and with the socks you will wear.
My two feet are different lengths. Which do I use?
The longer one. A small difference between feet is common; a shoe that fits the longer foot can be snugged up on the other side with laces or an insole, while a shoe that is too short cannot be fixed.
